Portada is produced in the wine region of Lisboa in Portugal, where vineyards lie between the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean and grapes benefit from the warm sun and cool maritime breezes. Portada is an unusual blend of Tinta Roriz, Alicante Bouschet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Caladoc, Castelao, Pinot Noir and Touriga Nacional that is somewhat reminiscent of vintages produced by smaller vineyards in France.
This deep, ruby red, medium-bodied wine has berry fruit flavors and beautiful balance. It's aroma of plum and blackberry opens to reveal a taste of rich, sweet berry fruit, followed by a streak of blood orange mid-palate that lasts well into the long finish.
Portugal shows how sub $10 red blends are done. Indeed, this wine has a unique and refined character seldom experienced at this price point.
