Marques de Riscal

Click image for a larger view.

This Rioja, Marques de Riscal, has a long lineage of incorporating techniques admired in nineteenth century French viniculture, the result: a sort of Spanish-Bordeaux.

Of course, the mainstay grape of the Rioja region, Tempranillo, is strongly represented in all the offerings from the winery, but French grapes and American Oak casks have been added to good effect over the generations.

And all this can be enjoyed, especially if imbibed in its youth, for a very reasonable price, sometimes closer to ten than twenty dollars a bottle.

It does have the ability to add some flavor with age, but you'll probably have to pay disproportionately to indulge.
