Faustino Vll

Everyone knows that Bodegas Faustino produces one of Spain's finest Riojas based on the complex and rich tempranillo grape variety. It's called Faustino I, and well worth the thirty or so dollars it may cost you in the U.S. at retail.

Of course, the emphasis of this blog is on value, quality per-dollar spent, and this is why the current recommendation is Faustino VII, also from the Rioja region, also based on the tempranillo grape.

In my experience, it has not disappointed, consistently delivering the profound, spicy notes of the best tempranillo based wines of the region, while not straining the budget.
