14 Hands Stampede

14 Hands Stampede is just one of the fine blends available from 14 Hands Vineyards in Washington State, but it is one that has garnered much attention of late.

As with all of their product, the wine is fruit-forward and deliciously distinct, and in this instance, I may have discerned one of their secrets.

Stampede contains the usual culprits in strong red blends: Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Mourvedre, but also has a splash of Viognier, a grape more commonly found in Chardonnayesque wines of the Provencal region. Perhaps this adds the detectable brightness of flavor?

Whatever the case, Stampede provides a rich quaffing experience for the right price.
