Ravenswood Winery has a number of wines in its lineup, many of them award winners, and most built on a Zinfandel spine. Of course, most of these are hardly inexpensive, but lucky for us, the Vintner's Blend is, while still possessing a decent nose, a fruity flavor, with a consistency more like a young Pinot than a typical Zin.
I would also suggest that you aerate this wine thoroughly, as it softens considerably and is more drinkable thereafter.
All in all, this red is pretty fair value given its taste, price, and general availability.
