Gnarly Head Authentic Red

Another of those fine vineyards from northern California is Gnarly Head, whose enterprises are mainly in Lodi and whose wines are often built on a strong spine of Old Vine Zinfandel grapes.


Though their family of offerings is strong, perhaps the best of the bunch is their Authentic Red, which is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. It presents nicely in the mouth, with deeply flavorful fruit notes, and a a strong and consistent finish.


And like most of Gnarly Head's lineup, though dear in flavor, it can usually be bought for ten dollars or less. Nothing in life is free, but some things are great bargains. The Authentic Red is one of these.
